Antique Cast Iron Folding Wall-Mounted Plant Stand

Description
Heavily patinated and ornate folding wall bracket made of solid cast iron. Features a gear-like round shelf platform with openwork slots and a scissor-arm mechanism that allows the bracket to extend and fold flat.

History:
Originally used as a plant or oil lamp bracket, this utilitarian design was common in pre-electric homes and greenhouses, combining strength with decorative form. Its folding mechanism allowed it to be tucked away when not in use.
