On the supply side, we work with local contractors and individuals who have access to overstock, new or salvaged building material. RBX inventories, markets, and sells dropped-off items. Once an item sells, RBX cuts the 'consignor' a check at the end of the month for 50% of each sale. Instead of dumping, donating or storing usable material; both businesses and individuals finally have a streamlined solution for making money.
On the demand side, we are OPEN TO THE PUBLIC 4 days a week! Customers have access to an ever-changing inventory of over 1,000's of new, unique, and vintage items.
Our founder, Jessica Davis, has always had "salvaging" in her blood - her “Little Grandpa” even once built a cottage by the lake using shipping crates he deconstructed from his work at Consolidated Freightways. After entering the building world as an AmeriCorps volunteer at Habitat for Humanity and developing the Women Build & Home Builders Blitz programs in Cleveland, Jessica founded her own design and fabrication business, Davis Industrial Services, in 2012. Through Davis Industrial Services, Jessica created opportunities to use the salvaged material in commercial interiors while collaborating with local artisans and saw the need for a marketplace for both buying and selling salvaged construction material. Thus, the vision for RBX was born!
Jessica has built homes with Habitat for Humanity in Guyana, Botswana, Nepal, and Costa Rica, and has had the pleasure of living and working with the most “gente simpatico” in Yumbel, Chile. Jessica was a Bad Girl Venture Finalist in 2015 and was recently honored as a 2016 German Marshall Memorial Fellow. Jessica loves to spend time with her "adoptive daughter" Cora and ‘spiritual accomplice’ Jennifer, when they are in town, and currently, lives in Tremont with her silver-fox boyfriend, Ron. They like to sail; he’s a Tartan 10 National Champion and she’s a grizzly pirate!
Kris Strickland is the VP of Operations. She's the operational bad-ass of RBX! Kris and Jessica's history dates back to the days of building homes for Habitat for Humanity together. Kris came to RBX from Home Depot where she spent 8+ years learning the ins-and-outs of servicing contractors and DIY consumers. If you have a question about building materials, she has the answer! Kris is the mastermind of every inch of floor and how inventory at RBX is managed. Don't see something you need? Ask Kris!
Ron Copfer is the proverbial wearer of many hats... In-between bored, I mean board meetings, in other enterprises in which he has interests, Ron mostly supports Jes and Kris. Coffee, bagels, you name it! In addition to supporting two of the most powerful woman he knows (and loving it, trust him...), Ron operates the RBX "FabLab" as the bosses have come to name it. A 4,000 sq. ft. wood and metal fabrications space within RBX, Ron can fabricate almost anything that a customer could want. Ron is a master metal fabrication specialist and welder with a nuclear power plant construction certification background. If you can dream it, he can make it!
